Who am I?

I am Reiki Usui Holy Fire® Master and an interspiritual Spiritual Director/Counselor. I want to help you to be the best person you can be and who you want to be.

I chose to become a Reiki Master because in my spiritual life, I see all creation imbued with God’s Life-giving and Healing Energy. God is truly everywhere as is God’s energy. I believe the Divine gave us the ability to heal each other by aligning each other’s energy. I am able to use my innate intuitive abilities to help people to heal and become aware of the ways they want to heal themselves.

I retired from a happy and successful career in Cybersecurity. Before I retired, I became an accredited interspiritual Spiritual Director through The Haden Institute. The Haden Institute is based in Jungian (Carl Jung) psychology and spirituality and is based in the Christian spiritual tradition. Haden affirms other religious and spiritual traditions and practices.

During my Spiritual Direction formation, I took a course in Trauma and Spirituality. Through this class, I am a Trauma-informed Spiritual Director. This means I know about trauma and its effects. I am not a trauma-certified counselor, and I can assist one to relieve life’s trauma.

I am an Idaho native. In my twenties, I was able to travel around the globe. When I left Idaho in my twenties, I said I will never return to Idaho. I proved myself wrong; I married a woman who lived four blocks from where I grew up! After 21 years of marriage and a daughter, we live a few miles from my childhood home!

My spirituality is based in the Catholic Christian spirituality. The Catholic Diocese of Boise (Idaho) gave me the title of Master Catechist. I have read and studied about various religions and spiritual traditions. I will support and walk with anyone from any spiritual tradition. My only request is you want to develop your inner life and grow in your relationship with the Divine and your true self.

In my years as a spiritual directee, this spiritual journey is rewarding and life transforming. My life is truly better because of my spiritual journey.

My Spiritual Perspective

I believe our spirituality encompasses the entire person: our Psychological, Emotional, Intellectual, Physical, and Spiritual selves. I see spirituality as a relationship with myself, with God, and with others, and with the natural world. I see psychology and spirituality as twins in the same family. Each twin has a distinct personality. The “twins” directly affect each other.

Further, we express our Spirituality in two forms: communal and private prayer. In both forms, we use devotionals, church services, and other practices. In private prayer, we may use Centering Prayer, meditation, and/or contemplation.

I believe we use prayer for basic comfort and consolation and for a deeper sense of meaning in our lives. In prayer, we face our emotions and bring them to God. Our spirituality helps us to make sense of our lives and our life’s transitions. Spirituality helps us to accept reality as it shows up.

When I enter into meditation/prayer, I bring my thoughts and emotions into my personal meditation space. It is in this space I find God waiting for me. As in any relationship, as I share more about myself with God. At these times, I am able to find emotional healing and grow into the person God wants us to be. When that happens, my relationships are healthier and more rewarding.

My Spiritual Path

All my spiritual life, I have been on a Contemplative Mystical path. Those words mean when I pray, I usually sit and listen (after a few minutes of calming!); that is the Contemplative part. When I pray, I see visions and feel God’s love; that is the Mystical side.

As Richard Rohr said, “anyone who experiences a direct connection with God is a mystic.” When you experience God while praying, driving, babysitting, working, etc., you are having a mystical experience of God.

In my twenties and thirties, I spent a lot of time trying to find how to live out my spiritual path. I was in a seminary for Catholic priestly formation. I realized God made me not to be emotionally alone. I want a lifelong partner with whom I can share my thoughts, emotions and days.

From my seminary experience, I received a wonderful theological education and a lifelong desire to integrate this theology into my spirituality. I explored Christianity more and looked at other spiritual traditions and religions. Often, I see ways to integrate other spiritual tradition’s practices into my spiritual practice and experience of God, others, and the natural world.
